We source this crazy thick, plush, carpet from Nourtex Mills, a division of Nourison in Dalton, Georgia. The Style is called Amore and color is Oyster. It also is available in 6 other colors: (from left to right, top to bottom on the color board): Bone, Aqua, Light Grey, Stone, Dark Grey and Cream. (The Cream color is the last picture). We also offering this Shag with a trellis running through. The Amore Trellis Shag is pictured with the top color being the Cream with Navy trellis, then Cream/Grey Trellis, Aqua/Cream Trellis, and Charcoal Trellis. If you want any color other than the main one shown on the step (Oyster) be sure to send us a message with your order. Otherwise we will make and ship the Oyster.
This is a 100% polypropylene carpet, but because it has no need for yarn strands to stand on end like shorter carpets, it “ends up” (a pun!) being very durable.
Here is what Nourison has to say about it: “Turn on the charm with this collection of enthralling shag in bold colors. Featuring a beautiful pile that simply begs to be touched and quality construction that will last for years, this exciting collection is a perfect way to spice up any décor. Texture and color meet style and substance in Amore. You’ll simply love it.”
We start with this awesome carpet, cut it down to the correct tread size, seam the boarders and then permanently attach our rigid edge.
The standard size is made for a 10″ deep tread 24″ wide, but you can upgrade to 27″ wide, 31″ wide or 35″ wide — or we can make any custom size you may need! (They are all made to cover 10″ deep stairs which are 1″ thick or less with a rounded front bullnose, but can be placed on stairs that are deeper or thinner — if you need a custom cut for shallower/deeper/wider stairs or have thicker stairs with a square-face, just let us know!)
As shown, the stair tread is permanently attached to a rigid bullnose piece so that when installed it will stay nicely wrapped around your stair tread. Other manufacturers use combinations of tape or glue, and hope that your tread will stay wrapped around the end of your stair tread. Not these. treads have a pressure sensitive adhesive that keeps the tread in place and a strong, rigid bullnose edge that keeps the wrap-around in place.
