Part of our pet friendly collection of stair treads! An elegant but affordable alternative to a complete professional runner installation. The style is is 100% Nylon and is durable, stain resistant, odor resistant, and pet hair resistant. These treads make clean up even easier as the high performance carpet is designed to easily release pet hair during vacuuming!
The style is called Pawnache and is made by Anderson Tuftex. They put it best: “The soft and organic paw-like, diamond pattern gives just enough texture to hold interest and the cut loop keeps things cozy on bare feet and paws alike. This Pet Perfect™ carpet won’t fade or look unseemly, and the 24 color options are all the height of sophistication, or Pawnache. We make the treads in our standard sizes of 24″ wide, 27″ wide, 31″ wide and 35″ wide and they fit the standard 10″ deep stair with a 1″ thick tread. But if you need a custom size, just let us know, we can do that, too!

Here is how we do it:
We start with this awesome carpet, cut it down to the correct tread size, seam the borders, permanently attach our True Bullnose® rigid edge, and then add padding and nonskid to the back.
The standard size is made for a 10″ deep tread 24″ wide, but you can upgrade to 27″ wide, 31″ wide or 35″ wide — or we can make any custom size you may need! (They are all made to cover 10″ deep stairs which are 1″ thick or less with a rounded front bullnose, but can be placed on stairs that are deeper or thinner — if you need a custom cut for shallower/deeper/wider stairs or have thicker stairs with a square-face, just let us know!)
As shown, the stair tread is permanently attached to a rigid bullnose piece so when installed, it will stay nicely wrapped around your stairs. Other manufacturers use combinations of tape or glue, and hope the tread will stay wrapped around the end of the stairs. Not these. True Bullnose® treads have a pressure sensitive adhesive that keeps the tread in place and a strong, rigid bullnose edge that keeps the wrap-around in place.

If you decide to order additional stair treads, please note that we are not able to guarantee that orders placed at different times will be produced from the same dye lot. Due to the nature of textile production, both carpet color and binding color can vary from one dye lot to the next. Typically this variation is slight. We recommend placing a single order for all treads, including custom pieces, to ensure that they will all be produced from the same dye lot.
Per our return policy, there is a 30% restocking fee for any returns. While we wish this was not necessary, our shop’s made to order nature makes it so. We purchase the carpet and create each order once it is placed. Thank you for your understanding and patience!
